People from all around the world are mourning the loss of rapper Coolio — including some of hip hop’s biggest names.
Fellow rapper Ice Cube, who collaborated on numerous songs with the Grammy winner, took to Twitter on Wednesday night to pay tribute to the late musician.
“This is sad news. I witness first hand this man’s grind to the top of the industry,” he tweeted alongside reports of Coolio’s passing, adding “Rest In Peace.”
“I’m freaking out I just heard my good friend Coolio passed away,” the “Ice Ice Baby” rapper tweeted. The pair toured together last year.
Actor Martin Lawrence also took to Twitter to send his “deepest condolences and prayers” to the rapper’s family.
Questlove shared a photo of Coolio — whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr. — on his Instagram, writing, “Peaceful Journey Brother.”
The host of “Hot Ones,” Sean Evans, reflected on meeting the iconic rapper back in 2016 during his appearance on the hit YouTube series.
“First CD I ever bought in my life and the most legendary Wing 10 Last Dab these eyes have ever seen,” he tweeted with a picture of the rapper’s “Gangsta’s Paradise” album cover, adding, “RIP Coolio.”
Fellow 90’s rap icon MC Hammer also showed love to the late rapper on Twitter, calling him “one of the nicest dude I’ve ever known.”
The “Gangsta’s Paradise” rapper died on Wednesday at age 59, according to TMZ.
Per the rapper’s longtime manager, Jarez, Coolio was at a friend’s home in Los Angeles when he went to use the restroom.
After noticing the rapper was taking a long time, the friend went to go check on him — only to find the rapper unconscious on the ground.
After the paramedics arrived, the “C U When You Get There” rapper was pronounced dead.
While it hasn’t been confirmed, medics believe the rapper went into cardiac arrest.
He is survived by his six children and ex-wife, Josefa Salina.
