Yankees’ Frankie Montas not expected to miss much time

Frankie Montas may not miss much time after the MRI on his troublesome right shoulder didn’t show anything significant, sources told The Post.

Montas could still get some extra rest due the shoulder soreness that caused the right-hander to get the exam on Saturday following his latest poor outing in Milwaukee.

In eight starts with the Yankees since being acquired along with Lou Trivino in a trade with the A’s, Montas has a 6.35 ERA and he gave up four runs in 3 ¹/₃ innings in his most recent outing.

After Montas said he felt discomfort in the shoulder — the same shoulder that caused him to sit out due to inflammation for over two weeks in July with Oakland — he was sent for the MRI exam and the Yankees wanted him to see team physician Chris Ahmad before making any decisions.

Montas said the discomfort was less severe than what he experienced with the A’s, when he was shut down and said on Saturday it felt like “normal soreness from pitching” and indicated he would “probably” make his next start.

That is still to be determined, meaning the Yankees could turn to Domingo German to take Montas’ spot, at least for an outing.
