Braunwyn Windham-Burke filed for divorce from her husband, Sean Burke, on Monday, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.
The “Real Housewives of Orange County” alum – who came out as gay back in 2020 – cited “irreconcilable differences” in the docs and is requesting they share legal custody.
However, Wyndham-Burke, who moved to New York City last year, is also requesting physical children of their seven children, with Sean getting visitation rights.
The former Bravolebrity, 44, also wants Sean to pay spousal support and her attorney’s fees as well as a division of their personal property.
“The two share a mutual love for their children and will continue to put their family first as they navigate the split,” a source close to Windham-Burke told Page Six on Wednesday.
“Braunwyn knew she needed to do this at some point to fully explore her life as a gay woman. She’s excited for the future.”
The insider added that it was “obvious a divorce was bound to happen” ever since she came out in December 2020.
The mom of seven listed the date of official separation as Oct. 13, 2022, but she initially announced a trial separation from Sean in the summer of 2021 after 26 years of marriage.
Windham-Burke did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
In a new interview with People, Windham-Burke admitted that trying to create a “modern family” ended up being more “difficult” than she anticipated.
“I will always have so much love for the family we created that will continue to flourish and thrive,” she told the outlet.
The exes have been seeing other people since late 2020. For her part, Windham-Burke has been dating Jennifer Spinner, with the two recently going Instagram-official.
The same source close to Windham-Burke told us that Spinner, 38, is currently in the process of looking into moving to Orange County, Calif. to help her girlfriend with the divorce and her kids.
“Jen didn’t always want Braunwyn to have to choose between going to New York and being in Orange County, so she is looking for places close by to Newport Beach to ensure Braunwyn is with the family as much as possible,” the source explained.
“Jen has met the kids and gets along with them well.”
Prior to Spinner, the reality star had relationships with ex-girlfriends Victoria Brito and Kris. Windham-Burke sparked reconciliation rumors with Kris when they were spotted holding hands shortly after she and Brito called it quits. However, a source assured us at the time that the two were “just friends.”
Sean has also moved on and began dating “someone new,” he exclusively told Page Six in April.
The former couple tied the knot on Jan. 30, 2000, and share seven kids together: Bella, 22, Rowan, 20, Jacob, 17, 9-year-old twins Caden and Curren, Koa, 7, and Hazel, 4.
