Sprinter Alica Ѕchmidt reacts to ‘world’s sexiest athlete’ label

German track & field star Alica Ѕchmidt doesn’t pay any mind the title of “the World’s Sexiest Athlete” that was given to her by a number of supporters and websites.
The 23-year-old athlete — who’s walked in fashion shows and red carpets — is focused on her sport and cultivating beauty that’s within.
“This title doesn’t mean anything to me,” Schmidt told SunSport. “It’s based on a subjective opinion of someone else judging the appearance of a person. I like to think that beauty comes from the inside!

“I think all that matters is my performance and what I bring to the table that counts. I’m focusing on what I want to achieve as an athlete and I try not to let people’s perception of me dictate my behavior or opportunities.”
Schmidt walked in Milan Fashion Week for Boss last September, sporting the fashion brand’s second season of its Russell Athletic capsule collection.
The athlete shared the spotlight with supermodels Gigi Hadid, Joan Smalls and Irina Shayk, among other high-profile models. Schmidt is also a Puma-sponsored athlete.
“All of these experiences are great and it’s still crazy to be me to be invited to such iconic events,” she said. “What makes it special in the end is the people. All the people I meet along the way are truly inspiring and it’s an honor to be there in the moment next to them.”
Although Schmidt, who boast 3.2 million followers on Instagram, has become an influencer to her audience, there are things she chooses not to share on social media.
“I really don’t feel comfortable sharing my private life with people who don’t know me personally – but at the same time I enjoy using social media and only share the aspects of my life that I want to share,” she said.

“I am so grateful for all of the business opportunities that have risen from my Instagram account and I really have fun creating content for the platform.”
Schmidt reached the 400m semi-finals of the European Championships in Munich in August.
It was a triumph that came after she took a break from track & field last summer following the Olympics in Tokyo, where she was left off the Olympic team despite traveling for the Games.
Schmidt is now training for the Paris Games in 2024, while making time to finish her studies.
“My goal is to make it to the Olympics in Paris in 2024 and become faster,” said Schmidt, who trains “almost every single day, sometimes twice a day.”
