Airbnb with massive bunker hides a dark, bloody secret

A Kentucky mansion has gone viral after a TikToker renting it on Airbnb showed off a hidden bunker during a video tour of the home.

“What’s in this closet?” the woman muses in the two-minute clip before pointing out five safe-like doors.

“This room has several years supply of food,” she explains as she pans across the bunker. “But it is currently locked, so we can’t look at it.”

Viewers were quick to comment they felt something off about this place, which gave “creepy vibes.” As it turns out, the home in Richmond was the site of a gruesome killing in February — and authorities believe the 2,000-square-foot bunker is the key to the crime.

Prosecutors say Shannon Gilday, a 23-year-old former soldier who lived in the Cincinnati suburbs, fatally shot 32-year-old Jordan Morgan while she was in bed on Feb. 22. Morgan is the daughter of former Kentucky lawmaker C. Wesley Morgan.

“His belief at the time,” Kentucky State Police Detective Cameron Allen said of Gilday at a March hearing, “was that given the current political environment in our country, as well as in the world at this time, and given events that had taken place throughout the world, he wanted to access this bunker, so that he could secure it for himself and his family and friends.”

Gilday’s mother released a statement at the time, claiming her son believed a nuclear war was coming and had talked of building a bunker. She added that she tried to get him “psychiatric help but to no avail.” A judge entered a not guilty plea on Gilday’s behalf in May.

Meanwhile, the TikToker’s video has been viewed 5.6 million times since it was posted last week.

The custom-built home, which has a $6.5 million price tag, has been on the market for several months.

Composed of nine bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, it spans a colossal 14,300 square feet, according to its Zillow listing.

“The shelter is 26 feet underground with a 39-inch solid concrete ceiling and 15-inch walls with wings,” the listing states. “This is reported to be the most secure home on the market in this country. It is built to withstand a seismic 12 earthquake, has three air filtrations from Switzerland and two escape tunnels. One is approximately 100 yards long.”

The listing refers to the bunker as a “nuclear/biological/chemical fallout shelter” with a separate mother-in-law suite.
