Meghan Markle’s mom Doria Ragland says ‘it’s been a tough 5 years’

Doria Ragland is royally fed up — and ready to talk.

Meghan Markle’s mother, who has stayed out of the public eye since her daughter’s relationship with Prince Harry went public, has finally broken her silence in the new “Harry & Meghan” docuseries.

Featured in the Netflix show’s second episode, 66-year-old Ragland said she’s finally ready to discuss her experiences as her daughter entered the royal family.

“The last 5 years has been challenging,” said Ragland. “I’m ready to have my voice heard, that’s for sure.”

Ragland recalled that she and her daughter were speaking on the phone when Markle, 41, confided that she was dating the prince and that she was not allowed to tell anyone.

“Mommy, I’m going out with Prince Harry,” Markle allegedly whispered.

Ragland also remembered meeting the Duke of Sussex, 38, for the first time.

“You know, he was just like six one, handsome man with red hair. Really great manners. He was just really nice. And they looked really happy together. Yeah, like he was the one,” gushed Ragland.

However, Ragland said everything changed and became about race once the relationship became public.

“I said to her. I remember this very clearly, that this is about race,” recalled Ragland.

“And Meg said, ‘Mommy, I don’t wanna hear that.’ And I said, ‘You may not want to hear it, but this is what’s coming down the pike.’”

Within a week of Harry and Meghan going public, there were stories about Markle being “straight out of Compton.”

Royal procedure dictated that the couple not respond to taunts and jibes, but rather ignore them.

Ragland since admitted that she “felt unsafe” due to the paparazzi constantly following her around.

“There was always someone there waiting for me, following me to work. I was being stalked by the paparazzi,” she said.
