College basketball gets rolling again on Tuesday with a small card. One game catching my eye is Northwestern State facing Texas A&M.
Northwestern State isn’t getting much respect from oddsmakers, despite an impressive start to the season. The Demons are 8-4 and own quality wins over TCU and Southern Miss. They also fought hard against Baylor last Tuesday, losing to the Bears on the road, 58-48.
Tonight’s clash will tip off at 7 p.m. ET and will broadcast live on the SEC Network.

Northwestern State vs. Texas A&M prediction
Texas A&M is off to a disappointing start. One of the most experienced teams in the country, the Aggies are 6-5 with losses to Murray State and Wofford. Texas A&M does have talent, but at this point in the season it is still overvalued in the betting market.
One issue for the Aggies has been turnovers. Texas A&M ranks 279th in steal percentage, according to KenPom. They could have trouble facing an aggressive Northwestern State defense that ranks 34th in forcing turnovers and 18th in creating steals.
Another thing to watch is Northwestern State attempts and makes a lot of 3-pointers, ranking 65th in 3-point scoring rate. Texas A&M’s perimeter defense has been a weakness early in the year, ranking 281st in 3-point field-goal percentage defense. They also rank 339th in opponents 3-point shots attempted per game.
Betting on College Basketball?
Sometimes it can be difficult for teams to lay double-digit points over the holiday break. Northwestern State does have some blowout losses this year, but they also showed the ability to play with top-tier teams. I’ll take the Demons to stay within the number here.
