Colts blast Kayvon Thibodeaux’s celebration after Nick Foles injury

The Colts have taken exception to Kayvon Thibodeaux’s celebrations after injuring their quarterback.

The Giants’ rookie pass rusher leveled Colts quarterback Nick Foles with a vicious sack during the second quarter of the team’s playoff-clinching rout of Indianapolis on Sunday. The hit left Foles with a rib injury, and he exited the game after being carted off the field.

After rolling off the top of Foles, Thibodeaux celebrated with fake snow angels on the field. He was still right next to Foles, however, who was writhing on the ground in pain before Colts trainers came out to meet him. In a few instances, Thibodeaux’s arm brushed against Foles while doing his snow angels.

A few moments later, cameras appeared to show Thibodeaux making a “go to sleep” gesture to fans while on the sidelines.

“Hopefully his teammates will — maybe one day he’ll learn that injuries happen in this league, you never want to happen to the guy that you’re going against,” Colts center Ryan Kelly told reporters after the game, per J.J. Stankevitz of the team’s website. “That’s just horses–t.”

Foles did not return to the game, and was replaced by Sam Ehlinger. Foles had 81 passing yards and an interception — which was returned for a touchdown by Landon Collins — before he was knocked out of the game.

Thibodeaux claimed he did not know Foles was injured while he was celebrating.

“When I did realize that he was hurt, that’s when we started getting up,” Thibodeaux told reporters after the game, per Kimberley A. Martin of ESPN. “When you’re doing a celebration, you’re not looking to see who’s doing what. But I hope he gets well and I hope he’s all right.”

The emerging Thibodeaux finished with one sack and two tackles for loss, as the Giants defense feasted on the decimated Colts’ offensive line.
